Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman has passionately defended his tactical setup after his team sustained a shocking shootout elimination vs. Morocco in the 1\/16 finals of the World Cup.<\/p>\n
The under-fire head coach also shared he will take time to think about his future after his side\u2019s exit from the tournament at the start of the elimination phase.<\/p>\n
The Dutch team was very close to advancing to the next round, but allowed a goal in the extra time that forced an extra time. Cody Gakpo had thought that he had won the match for the Netherlands when he scored 18 minutes before the end of the regular time, but Issa Diop evened the result in the stoppage time, and eventually the African team won the game after penalties.<\/p>\n
After the match, the media asked Koeman if he had already resigned from his position as the Dutch head coach after the elimination:<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, I haven\u2019t done that. I need time to reflect on what to do next. This is still fresh after the match, and the emotions are high. I\u2019m going to think about it, and maybe I will have an answer to that question tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n
Koeman added that he would have played his defensive style again and that, for him this was the right choice.<\/p>\n
