The American ran remarkable 100 meters to the line and grabbed the first place in the last possible moment

United States runner Quincy Hall secured the Olympic gold medal in the men’s 400-meter dash on Thursday, triumphing over Great Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith and Zambia’s Muzala Samukonga.

Hall clocked a personal best time of 43.40 seconds in one of the best races of Paris 2024.

Hall trailed early in the race but executed a remarkable straightaway dash, overtaking UK’s Hudson-Smith just steps before the finish line. Coming on the final stretch Hall was running fourth, but made a great final run to clinch the first place.

The Raytown, Missouri native previously earned a bronze medal in the 400-meter event at last year’s World Championships and was also a member of the gold-winning mixed 4×400-meter relay team at that meet.
