Big Sam claims Harry Maguire turned down a transfer to West Ham United because the defender thinks he could find himself in a relegation battle.
The Red Devils centre-half is not part of Erik ten Hag’s plans for the starting 11, starting just 6 matches in the past season in the Premier League. He was expected to leave Manchester United during the current summer transfer window to play regularly elsewhere.
The Hammers made an official bid for Maguire and Man. United accepted it, but Harry wanted an exit package payment from the Red Devils before he leaves, but West Ham lost interest after the defender’s stall.
Sam Allardyce, who managed West Ham to Championship promotion, shares that the tough past campaign of the North London side that was part of the relegation battle has played on Harry’s mind and that his agent wants more for Maguire.
🚨 Sam Allardyce: “Where will Maguire be at the end of the transfer window? Manchester United. He refused West Ham. I know his agent very well. With the difficulties they had last season, he does not want to go there, he wants something bigger.” #MUFC pic.twitter.com/5W4lgKtXPW
