Aston Martin resurgence ‘reality check’ for Alpine, says Rossi

Alpine’s team boss Laurent Rossi says that Aston Martin incredible performance leap this season is a reality check for his team.

The French team has just received a major boost of 200 million euro in investment from a group that includes actor Ryan Reynolds, which will help the team accelerate its development.

“It was a reality check for Mercedes, Ferrari, us,” Rossi said.

“We were comfortable thinking we were on the rise, and everyone else was, and suddenly there is a guy leapfrogging all of us.”

Alpine’s target for this season was to finish fourth, but to narrow the gap to the top 3 teams. However, with Aston Martin’s strong performances, especially with Alonso, who has been on the podium 6 times already, that seems nearly impossible.
