A 1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth rookie card was auctioned for 7.2M dollars, including the customer’s premium today, the 3rd highest sum ever paid for a sports card as the record is 7.25 million dollars for a T206 Sweet Caporal Honus Wagner card that was sold last year.
That was the most expensive Babe’s item ever.

“The condition of the card was excellent; the fact that it was in the hands of the museum for the past 20+ years helped keep it in the condition that it’s in,” shared Brian Dwyer, president of Robert Edward Auctions, who did the auction. “It’s 1 of only 10 that we know are out there.”
For information, there are 32 T206 Sweet Caporal Honus Wagners, which is the most expensive of all time.
