Bayern Munich is reportedly open to selling Matthijs de Ligt, Dayot Upamecano, and Min-jae Kim this summer if they receive suitable offers, as reported by “Kicker”. The club aims to retain only Eric Dier from their current central defenders and are ready to invest in new central defenders.
Despite being relatively new additions to the squad—Kim joined just a year ago with a contract until 2028, de Ligt’s contract extends to 2027, and Upamecano’s until 2026—the club’s poor performance last season, where they failed to secure any trophy for the first time in over a decade, has prompted a significant overhaul, particularly in defense.
Eric Dier, who has a contract until 2025, emerged as the standout central defender last season, impressing enough to establish himself as a team leader despite a comparatively lower salary.
In a move that highlights Bayern’s intent to restructure their defense, they have signed Hiroki Ito from Stuttgart. This acquisition suggests that the club is prepared to part ways with Upamecano, de Ligt, and Kim if the right offers come in.
Additionally, there are rumors that Bayern is interested in German defender Jonathan Tah from Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, indicating their proactive approach to reinforcing the defense.
