Belgian MEP Pascal Arimont has called on the European Commission to launch an investigation into Liberty Media, the company that owns the commercial rights to Formula 1. Arimont’s request comes after Liberty Media’s acquisition of Dorna, the company that controls MotoGP, which he claims breaches European competition laws by creating a monopoly in motorsport.
Libery media now owns F1, MotoGP and a controlling stake in Formula E
Surely it has to be illegal against EU laws?? I thought that was always the concern for them before they even bought Dorna?? https://t.co/S9Z5w7zrdQ

Liberty Media, through its subsidiary Liberty Global, also holds shares in Formula E, further raising concerns about its dominance across different racing platforms. Arimont argues that Liberty Media’s control over multiple major motorsport series threatens market competition.
This is not the only legal scrutiny Liberty Media faces. In the United States, the company is under investigation by both the US Congress and the Department of Justice for allegedly blocking the Andretti team’s entry into Formula 1. Additionally, the US Department of Justice is examining Liberty’s relationship with Live Nation-Ticketmaster for potentially monopolizing the ticketing industry.
