Spurs attacker Rodrigo Bentancur has apologised to captain Son Heung-min for using a racial slur on TV, sharing it was a “very bad joke”.
While being interviewed live, Rodrigo was asked by the reporter for a Tottenham’s player’s kit.
Bentancur answered “Son? It could be Heung-min’s cousin too as they all look the same.”
After the interview became viral on social media, Rodrigo apologized to his captain in Spurs.
“Sonny brother,” Bentancur posted on Instagram. “I apologize to you for what I said, it was just a bad taste joke.
“You know I love you and I would never disrespect you or hurt you as I’m not a person like that. Please accept my sincere apology!”
The Korean forward is yet to comment publicly Rodrigo’s interview and apology.
The 2 footballers play together since Rodrigo joined Spurs from the Old Lady at the beginning of 2022.
