The Buffalo Bills’ new venue may cost millions of dollars more than the organization expected.
Ninety days after the work started, the cost overruns are projected to hit 300 million dollars. The Bills estimated that they would need 1.4 billion dollars to build the stadium, but now the money they will need is 1.7 billion dollars. It’s not unlikely that everything could end up costing close to 2 billion dollars.
Buffalo COO John Roth, who was hired 3 weeks ago after the team fired Ron Raccuia, shared that it’s too early to be sure how much the whole project will cost in the end.
“We don’t know enough at this moment to confirm it,” the COO claimed.
Taxpayers are paying 850 million dollars for the venue. Buffalo are on the hook for cost overruns as it will anger the community.
