The Brazil national team has dropped Antony from its squad after the winger was accused of home violence by his girlfriend.
The Brazil FA came out with a statement that the 23-year-old will be left out from the squad for the upcoming international games after the facts were made public and required further investigation.
The player has firmly denied all the accusation, but the case is being investigated by Police in Sao Paolo and Greater Manchester.
Gabriela Gavallin, Antony’s former girlfriend, has claimed the winger attacked her “with a headbutt” on January 15 in a Manchester hotel, leaving her with a cut head, which required medical intervention.
She also alleges she was punched in the chest, causing damage to a silicone breast implant, which required corrective surgery.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said it is “aware of the allegations made and enquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this report”.
Further details of the ongoing investigation are yet to be released and the club also rejected to comment.
