Brazil was left frustrated after a goalless draw against Costa Rica in their Copa America Group D opener in Los Angeles.
Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, Brazil failed to capitalize, managing just three shots on target out of 19 attempts. Costa Rica’s disciplined five-man defense successfully stifled Brazil’s attack, with goalkeeper Patrick Sequeira making crucial saves.
Early in the match, Raphinha had a clear opportunity when he latched onto a long ball from Rodrygo, but Sequeira’s quick reaction prevented a goal. Brazil thought they had broken the deadlock in the 30th minute when Marquinhos scored from a flick-on by Rodrygo, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review for offside.

In the second half, Brazil continued to press for a goal. Lucas Paqueta hit the woodwork with a long-range effort in the 63rd minute, and later, Guilherme Arana’s powerful strike was denied by an excellent save from Sequeira. Despite their efforts, Brazil could not find the back of the net and had to settle for a draw, reflecting their recent struggles in front of goal.
