In a largely unprecedented financial concession to give roster flexibility for chasing a championship, NY Knicks All-NBA guard Jalen Brunson has agreed to a 4-year, 156.5 million dollar extension – 113 million dollars less guaranteed than he is eligible to ink for calendar year.

The contract, which starts in 2025-26 and will cost Jalen over 37 million dollars over the next 3 seasons, comes with a 4th-year player option that would allow the star to recoup the 113 million dollars on a 4-year, 323 million maximum extension in 4 years or a new 5-year, 418 million dollar contract in 2029.
Jalen became eligible to negotiate and ink the maximum extension yesterday.
While Brunson knows the risks that come with the choice to push back his maximum deal, Jalen’s top priority is to play with great players and to chase the ring with the Knicks in the upcoming campaigns.
