Moises Caicedo shared that the Reds declared their interest “too late” in the transfer window, with him already being convinced to sign with Chelsea when Liverpool approached him.
Klopp’s side and the Blues were embroiled in a bidding war to ink the Ecuadorian from the Seagulls a few months ago. Moises decided to ink with the club from North London as the Blues paid him a British record fee of 147 million dollars.
Liverpool offered 140 million dollars for Caicedo, and Brighton accepted the offer. However, Caicedo admitted that he preferred to sign with the club from Stamford Bridge because the Blues had shown an interest in his services before the Reds did.
“I was communicating with the Blues for a long time. It was impossible to refuse their offer because they were with me, encouraging me all this time”, Caicedo admitted.
