The Boston Celtics shared today that Kristaps Porzingis had a procedure to repair the rare leg problem he sustained during the NBA Finals and that his recovery time would be up to half a year, meaning he won’t be on the court until well into the start of next campaign for the defending champs.
Thanks for the support! Everything went smooth. Now will take time to heal up and get ready to go again. ☘️☝️ https://t.co/osDF3jvx6w

Kristaps (28) sustained a torn medial retinaculum, allowing dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon in the 2nd match from the final series, a problem the Celtics labeled as “rare”.
The center missed the next 2 matches before returning to notch 5 points in 16 minutes in Game 5 as Celtics won the NBA title with a 106-88 with against the Mavs.
Porzingis claimed after winning the title that he doesn’t care how much time it will take for him to recover from the problem and that he will fix it. Celtics acquired Kristaps from the Grizzlies a year ago in an exchange for Marcus Smart.
