Conor McGregor is set to make his return to the ring after a three-year hiatus, confirmed by his opponent Michael Chandler.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Chandler discussed plans for the upcoming period, emphasizing that the bout against the Irishman is definitely happening. While the official date has not yet been announced, this news will surely delight fans.
“I’ve received official confirmation; the fight will take place this summer. I can’t give you the exact date, but it will happen this summer. Obviously, it’s been planned for a year. We did the Ultimate Fighter, he was absent, of course, filming Road House and pursuing some of his other ambitions and accolades outside the cage, but now we’re both ready. The official status is that we have an agreement,” said Chandler.
The president of UFC recently stated that he might finally sit down with Conor to discuss a new fight, so it seems like all the pieces are slowly falling into place.
McGregor last fought on July 11, 2021, losing to Dustin Poirier for the second time within a year.
