Discussions are in the final stage after Steve emerged as the newly-promoted side’s preferred head coach.
He has been on a shortlist that also featured the Seagulls and the Blues’ former manager, Graham Potter.
Steve has been out of work since being dismissed by Nottingham Forest at the end of the past year.
The Foxes won promotion back to the EPL after triumphing in last campaign’s Championship under Enzo Maresca, who has since been named Chelsea’s new boss.
The main task of the new manager will be to keep Leicester City in the Premier League and to avoid relegation back to the Championship. The task will not be easy given the financial rules that the clubs in the EPL must follow to comply with the fairplay.
