Arizona Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo issued a statement on Saturday, expressing his inability to comment on the team’s immediate future. In a message shared via X, formerly Twitter, Meruelo stated that he would refrain from making any “official public comments” at this time.

Acknowledging the ongoing discussions surrounding the Arizona Coyotes’ future, Meruelo emphasized his understanding and empathy for the concerns of fans, the community, partners, players, front office staff, and all team members.

He indicated his intention to address these issues as soon as he is able to speak on the topics, highlighting that there are numerous unresolved matters preventing the team from making official public comments at the moment. Meruelo assured stakeholders that he would address their concerns as promptly as possible.

Reports suggest that Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong traveled to Edmonton to inform players before their game there that the team would be relocating to Salt Lake City for the next season. However, Armstrong has declined to comment on these reports.

Meruelo, who assumed the majority stakeholder position in 2019 and later became the Coyotes’ sole owner, chairman, and governor in 2023, faces significant decisions regarding the team’s future.
