Dallas Eakins no longer Anaheim Ducks head coach

Anaheim Ducks reported on Friday that Dallas Eakins would not return as the head coach next year.

Ducks ended in last place in the regular season of the NHL with a 23-47-12 record. That was Eakins’s 4^th losing season in a row as head coach.

The GM of the franchise, Pat Verbeek, announced that Anaheim would look for a new head coach in the upcoming season. However, Dallas Eakins’s deal finished as the season for the team ended, and the Ducks will not offer him a new contract.

Before joining Anaheim, Eakins was at the helm of the team’s AHL affiliate in San Diego.

That was a very difficult decision that comes after careful and considerable deliberation,” Verbeek said in a statement. “At the end of the day, I simply feel that a fresh perspective and new voice will benefit the team.
