The Baltimore Ravens had a significant contribution in making the deal done as Smoot had a trip planned there for next week, which forced the Jaguars to quicken the offer.
The deal is risk-free and includes plenty of performance incentives for the edge rusher as he is currently recovering from torn Achilles tendon sustained in December.
The expected date of Smoot’s return will be around mid-October.
Smoot has been with the Jaguars since 2017, when he was selected as third-round pick. He has 22 1/2 over the last 4 campaigns and in the last one he achieved 5 sacks, before being sidelined with injury.
