The Detroit Lions have been unfortunate in the playoffs in its history. But now, that’s a completely different team, and the odds are confirming it.
Lions’ consensus 6.5-point favorite status for Sunday’s match vs. Buccaneers is its largest ever in the postseason. It surpassed Detroit’s 4-point favorite vs. the Cowboys in the 1970 divisional round, a match in which the Lions lost 5-0.
“They haven’t been favorites in the postseason, that’s certain, but they didn’t play that many matches in the playoffs also,” DraftKings executive Johnny Avello shared with the media. “The franchise has just not had many chances.”
This is the 1st time in the Lions history that the organization have hosted 2 postseason matches in a single postseason. If they triumphed, it would mark the 1st time since 1957 that they were victorious in multiple postseason matches. They are still 1 of 4 National Football League organizations to never play in the Super Bowl, along with Houston, Cleveland, and Jacksonville.
