Goran Ivanisevic believes that Novak Djokovic has transcended the limits of tennis and is now one of the greatest in the history of the sport. The Serbian won his 24th Grand Slam title ас he beat Daniil Medvedev in the US Open final in straight sets, leaving the nine year younger Russian no chance.
Croatian coach Ivanisevic says Djokovic’s fighting spirit and will to win under his tutelage make him a sporting “genius”.
“I don’t think you can work on it. You’re born a genius. He’s one of a kind. There aren’t that many people in this world like him athletically. It’s one of the greatest achievements in the history of sports. We’re not just talking about tennis, but overall. He’s a winner and he’s extremely motivated. He’s been lucky enough to compete with guys like Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer. But he’s a born winner. When you tell him he can’t do something, then you show he can do it. He always tries to find a way to win even when he doesn’t feel well,” Ivanisevic told the media.
It’s insane that Djokovic is still at the top of the game at age 36 and coach Goran Ivanisevic revealed that Novak already plans on playing the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles LOL pic.twitter.com/ZSWETW5Y2u
