Christian Eriksen scored for Denmark in a 1-1 draw with Slovenia at Euro 2024 on Sunday, almost three years after his life-threatening incident at the last tournament.
The Manchester United midfielder put Denmark ahead on 17 minutes in Stuttgart, a stadium packed with Danish supporters. Erik Janza’s late deflected goal equalized for Slovenia, marking their first appearance at the Euros since 2000.
Denmark’s next Group C game is against England in Frankfurt on Thursday, while Slovenia will face Serbia in Munich.
Slovenia’s highly-rated striker Benjamin Sesko nearly scored with a powerful long-range shot, but Denmark capitalized moments later. Jonas Wind flicked a quick throw-in to Eriksen, who fired a low shot into the far corner.
