Chael Sonnen says both of them have the same drug guy

Los Angeles Lakers’ star LeBron James, 38, continues to amaze the entire basketball world with his incredible play and he recently broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record for most points in NBA history.

Although he has millions of fans, LeBron’s critics are not lacking either. One of them is UFC promoter Chael Sonnen. He accused LeBron of maintaining his athletic longevity by using banned substances.

“We have the same drug guy, I know exactly what he’s taking,” the former UFC fighter said in an interview with the “Flagrant” podcast. He says the doping in question was erythropoietin (EPO). This substance increases the number of red blood cells in the blood, which leads to increased availability of oxygen.

“Other basketball players who hear what LeBron is doing will say it doesn’t matter. If you knew what these performance enhancers do, you’d know it matters. EPO matters, that’s why LeBron takes it. EPO increases your red blood cells, which gives you more stamina to play the whole match,” Sonnen said.
