The future of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort is facing significant uncertainty, with the contract for the event set to expire at the end of next year. The primary concern is the potential increase in the VAT rate for race tickets from 9% to 21%, which could make it financially unviable to continue hosting the event.
🚨 The future of the Dutch GP is at risk after 2025
F1 wants to continue with Zandvoort, but the Dutch GP management needs more clarity on partners and sponsorships – and also ticket sales, as the VAT increase on entry tickets will go from 9% to 21%.

Robert van Overdijk, the director of the Zandvoort circuit, acknowledged the precarious situation, stating, “At the moment, the risk is enormous, but of course, we are doing everything possible to see if it will be feasible to have a race beyond 2025. We are not yet buried in ashes, but it is clear that the situation is uncertain.”
Van Overdijk emphasized that the uncertainty is not due to the relationship with Formula 1, which remains excellent. “It’s not because of our relationship with Formula 1, which is fantastic. I hope everyone in the Netherlands realizes that organizing such a major event in our country is not a given. In recent years, we have succeeded thanks to parties that were willing to take significant risks,” he added.
Despite the challenges, Van Overdijk remains hopeful that a solution can be found to secure the race’s future.
