Juventus midfielder Niccolo Fagioli is on the way to reach a deal with the prosecutor’s office of the Italian Football Federation regarding the investigation that is being conducted against him due to unregulated betting in unlicensed gambling sites, Gazzetta dello Sport reports on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old has pleaded guilty and agreed to undergo treatment for his gambling addiction, which has halved his three-year ban. He also called for his punishment to be reduced further because of his full cooperation with the investigation, citing Article 126 of the FA’s code.
Thus, the midfielder agreed to be punished for 7-8 months, while the prosecutor’s office was ready to sanction him for one year. It remains to be seen how long the player will be suspended for, but in any case he will be out at least until the end of the current season.
