The Argentine superstar was actually in his hometown playing a testimonial match

A fan traveled 1,200 miles only to be left heartbroken, finding out that superstar Lionel Messi was not on the field as Inter Miami lost 4-1 away to Philadelphia Union.

The hosts posted a curious video on their social media accounts of the fan in question, wearing a sweatshirt in pink, which is the club color of the Miami team. It shows the disappointed-looking supporter holding a sign that reads: “I travelled 1,200 miles to see football G.O.A.T” as he was using emojis of a football ball and a goat referring to Messi as the greatest footballer of all time.

When he was shown on the big screen, the fan angrily threw the piece of cardboard away.

Staged or not, the clip quickly racked up over 1 million views on Twitter, with plenty of users making fun of this fan’s mishap. Actually, during the Philadelphia – Miami game, Lionel Messi was in Argentina playing in his friend Maxi Rodriguez testimonial match.
