Spanish driver believes there is still a lot of improvement to be made on the car

Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso has warned his rivals that the British team’s performance in Formula 1 is yet to improve.

The two-time world champion finished on the podium in last week’s Bahrain Grand Prix, behind Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

Over the wInter break Aston Martin have overhauled their car from last year, with the new AMR23 now looking a lot like Red Bull’s cars.

“There are still one or two areas where we can improve our performance, I won’t tell you what they are, but I think the most important thing for us at the beginning of the season is that this is a completely new car, a new project” – he explained after the race in Bahrain.

“This is just the beginning, this is not the final version of the car, this is the first version of the concept that was changed in the wInter. Some of the top teams have kept the philosophy they used last year, the forms of Ferrari and Red Bull are similar to last year, they just make small changes, slight adjustments and look for the perfect performance. With us it is more difficult, we had to change 95% of the car, so there is still a lot to learn about this car and its potential.”, two-time world champion explained.
