Arsenal’s head-coach has resorted to unique methods when it comes to tackling Anfield’s electric atmosphere.
Footages of the Gunners’ training session from two seasons ago have emerged, showing the Spaniard playing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ on speakers.
The Gunners face Jurgen Klopp’s side in a crunch match, which could potentially decide who sits on top of the table at Christmas. Arsenal are only a point ahead of second-placed Liverpool and all the prerequisites for a stellar fight are up there.
“Suddenly I could only see red shirts flying around,” he said, when describing Anfield’s atmosphere. “The game was passing me by and I could not react. People must have been thinking “what is he doing?”
“And I’m like, “I cannot do it, physically, emotionally, I cannot cope because everything moves too fast.” And I only had the feeling in my career once and it was at Anfield.”
In the end this method failed as the Gunners were thrashed convincingly 4-0. Arteta will be looking for better luck on Saturday.
