"It is absurd" says Sepp Blatter
Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter has criticized the decision the 2030 World Cup to be hosted in six countries on three continents.
“It is absurd for the tournament to be torn apart this way. The final part of the World Cup should be a compact event, this is important for the organization and the spectators. Also, for historical reasons, the tournament in 2030 had to be held exclusively in South America.” Blatter was quoted by SonntagsBlick.
Earlier, Blatter called the choice of Qatar to host the 2022 World Cup a mistake. Sepp Blatter served as FIFA president from 1998 to 2015 before being ousted following a corruption investigation.
