Formula 1 is considering more changes to the sprint weekends for 2024. One of the ideas is for a special award called the Grand Slam. It will be awarded to the driver who manages to grab pole position and wins, both in the sprint and in the Grand Prix.
There will be six sprint weekends next season, and F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali also commented on the matter.
“There will be six sprints that we will announce in September as the F1 Commission meeting is scheduled for the weekend of the Belgian Grand Prix,” said Domenicali.
“There is one suggestion I would like to make along the lines of the Grand Slam concept. Drivers who take both pole positions and both race wins over the weekend should be awarded something extra. It represents very well the sporting endeavor they have achieved.”
