Udinese fans were identified from the police for racially abusing Milan keeper Mike Maignan

Italian authorities have identified four additional individuals suspected of engaging in racist abuse towards AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, and they will face a five-year stadium ban, as stated by the police on Wednesday. The incident occurred during the game between Udinese and Milan on Saturday, prompting a brief halt after Maignan brought the referee’s attention to the offensive chanting.

Following an analysis of video footage from the Bluenergy stadium, a man from Udine and a woman, along with two other men from the local area, were singled out. Their details have been forwarded to prosecutors, and the imposed five-year ban represents the maximum penalty for first-time offenders.

In a separate development earlier this week, another suspect received identification and a stadium ban. Udinese has expressed its intention to pursue a lifetime ban for offenders. Additionally, as a consequence of this latest incident of racism tarnishing Italian soccer, the club itself has been mandated to play one match behind closed doors.
