Germany has been chosen to host the World Ice Hockey Championship, which will take place in 2027, TASS reported. The choice was made at the Congress of the International Ice Hockey Federation, which took place in Tampere (Finland) today.
Germany’s competitor was Kazakhstan, but the European country won with 75% of the vote (102 delegates) against 34 for the former Soviet republic. Norway was also among the candidates to host the tournament, but withdrew in January.
The World Cup will be held in Mannheim and Düsseldorf from May 14 to 30, 2027. The last time Germany hosted the World Cup was in 2017, together with France, with matches against Cologne.
