Panathinaikos’ Spanish player Juankar was hit by a firework 5 minutes after the start of the 2nd half as the match was a tie – 1-1.
The clash was initially suspended while the defender received medical treatment before being removed from the stadium.
The clash between 2 of the biggest sides in the Greek Super League has a reputation for violence on and outside the stadium.
A match between the same 2 clubs was abandoned in 2019 after Panathinaikos supporters attacked footballers on Olympiacos’ team bench and had fights with the police outside the stadium. As a result, Olympiacos was awarded the win.
Most likely, what will happen and if the match will be continued or a victory will be awarded is yet to become clear. The Greek FF still hasn’t shared more details about the incident.
