The Atlanta Hawks secured the 1st pick at the 2024 NBA Draft, winning the lottery for the 1st time in the organization’s history.
Atlanta, 36-46 this campaign for a 10th-place finish in the East, had just a 3% chance to land the 1st selection, the 5th-lowest odds by a franchise to win the number 1 selection since the lottery started in 1985.
Wizards, Rockets and Spurs rounded out the top 4. Pistons, who finished with the NBA’s worst record in the regular-season, fell to number 5. It’s 2nd straight campaign that Detroit had the worst record but fell to the 5th selection.
Houston, 41-41 this campaign, moved up 6 spots to land in the top 3. Wizards and Pistons had the best chances to land the selection at 14 percent.
The upcoming National Basketball Association draft is June 26-27 in the Big Apple.
“We can’t believe it,” Atlanta general manager Landry Fields shared after the lottery today.
