Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has expressed his optimism that 3rd driver Daniel Ricciardo is on his way to rediscover his fantastic form, which saw him win 8 Grand Prix.
The team boss also confirmed that Ricciardo is indeed on course to test for Red Bull later this year.
The Aussie has enjoyed a glamourous career with Red Bull in 2014-2018. After that, however, the 33-year old has opted for a new challenge and cganged teams with Renault and the Mclaren. It was the later that put him on the wrong foot as he seemed to have lost his touch, constantly being outpaced by teammate Lando Norris.
That put Ricciard in the position test driver for the 2023 season and in desperate need of form.
Reflecting on his 3rd driver situation Horner explained that he fully optimistic he will be back.
“It’s great to have him back in blue and back in the team. He’s really throwing himself into it. [He’s] sitting in all the briefings, he’s been working hard on the simulator as well, doing some race support and some development work on that.” he said.
“Daniel’s just a positive energy to have around and it’s great to see him getting his mojo back, to see that big smile on his face – he lights up a room when he walks in.”
There is a faint possibility that Ricciardo finds himself a seat, as Red Bull are yet to renew Perez’ contract.
