Former AC Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic met with club owner Gerry Cardinale recently to start laying the groundwork for a possible return to the club as a director.
Daniele Longo reports that the Swede met with the Rossoneri owner at Milanello last week. Cardinale reiterated his desire for Ibrahimovic to return to the club, keen to have his presence in the environment in order to boost player’s confidence and development.
Cardinale knows that Milan need a figure who knows Milanello well and how the dynamics of the dressing room work, something that has been missing since Paolo Maldini’s exit in the summer as the Milan legend brought not only director knowledge, but also sense of pride within the group.
The most likely option for now seems to be that Ibrahimovic will return to work closely with Stefano Pioli, possibly as a team manager, but the Swede doesn’t want to rush into a decision. The two parties are expected to meet again between November and December to further discuss Ibrahimovic’s possible return to Milan.
