Inter Miami goalkeeper Nick Marsman, who said the club is not ready to sign a player of Lionel Messi’s caliber, is no longer part of the squad. The club paid off the Dutch goalkeeper and terminated his contract, so the 32-year-old Marsman is now a free agent.
MLS rules allow clubs to terminate the contract of just one player, and the decision in Miami was this option to be used on the Dutch goalkeeper. It is unknown whether because of the comment or for another reason, but Marsman is the player who is leaving the club.
🗣️ Nick Marsman (Inter Miami GK) before the arrival of Lionel Messi:
“I don’t think our club is ready for the arrival of Lionel Messi. We have a temporary stadium, people can enter the pitch, we go to the stadium without security.”
