Ilya has signed an 8-season extension as he will earn more than 8 million dollars annually. The goalie is in the final campaign of a 3-year, 12 million dollar contract with a cap hit of 4 million dollars for the upcoming year.
Sorokin had his best campaign in his career in the past season, where his record was 31-22-7 with a .924 save % and 2.34 goals-against average.
The goaltender represented the franchise from the Big Apple in his 1st All-Star Game appearance this year.
