The European championship in 2028 will be hosted by the United Kingdom and Ireland, multiple source reported last week. Turkey was the other strong candidate, but they decided to withdraw their bid and work in partnership with Italy for the Euro 2032, which now looks certain as well.
UK and Ireland were the only bid in contention and UEFA will officially announce the news soon.
The Euro 2032 hosts are also sure – they will be Italy and Turkey as both countries have to show their stadium projects by 2026. This is great news for Italy especially, because of the hurdles in the local laws for renovating stadiums and now they can be repaired quicker because of the tournament. Last time Italian stadiums received a makeover was for another big tournament – the World Cup in 1990.
