Denver Nuggets swept the LA Lakers in the Western Conference finals en route to win the title in the past year and Los Angeles defeated Denver in the conference finals on their way to the championship in 2020, LeBron James believes that the past has nothing to do with the upcoming postseason series in the 1st round.
“For me, you’re putting a little bit too much emphasis on it,” LeBron shared after training when asked about the rematch factor for the 2 organizations. “This is our 1st-round series. Without a doubt, we can’t wait for the playoffs to begin. But in my mindset, I’m not looking forward to the rematch. What happened last season will not have any effect on us, and we will show our best in the playoffs no matter who our opponent is.”
Denver won their last 8 matches against Los Angeles, including last year’s postseason series.
LeBron added that it’s not personal, and he doesn’t look for a payback for the consecutive defeats from the Nuggets.
