Jaylen Brown praised his team Boston Celtics for their team performance in beating Miami 110-97 in Game 5 of the NBA Eastern Conference finals.
Boston reduced its deficit to 2-3 with the win in the series. The Celtics will now look to even the score on Saturday in Miami. If they pull off a comeback, Boston will become the first team in NBA history to win a series after trailing 0-3.
Brown, who contributed 21 points, said the team was up against the wall after the first three games. “Obviously, we didn’t imagine getting into a situation like this, but once we faced the reality, you could see what the team is made of. It couldn’t have been worse than 0:3, but we didn’t look back and we didn’t go in different directions. We stayed together,” he said.
Only three teams have taken a streak to a seventh game after losing the first three games, the last being Portland in 2003.
“For some reason, even last year it seemed like we were making things difficult for ourselves. But the character of a person, of a team, shows when things don’t go well,” added Jayson Tatum, who also scored 21 points.
“We showed how much we want success, we are committed and we believe in our teammates,” he added.
Jaylen Brown has no illusions that Game 6 against Miami will be easy. “These guys can play a lot better and they’re going to come out extremely aggressive. We will be ready to take their hit,” Brown explained.
