JJ Redick is currently the leading candidate to become the next head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, according to reports from The Athletic. While a final decision has not yet been made, indications strongly suggest that Redick is the front-runner to succeed Darvin Ham.

Over the past few weeks, the Lakers’ search for a new head coach has primarily focused on two main candidates: Redick and New Orleans Pelicans assistant coach James Borrego.

Redick, who was the first candidate to meet with the Lakers three weeks ago, is now seen as the top choice. Meanwhile, Borrego had a second in-person interview with team representatives last week.

The Lakers are still in the process of completing the necessary steps in their search, but Redick’s early engagement with the team and his strong candidacy position him favorably in the race to become the next head coach.
