Kansas is doing everything possible to become the new home for the reigning Super Bowl champs, with legislators approving a plan yesterday for luring both the Chiefs and MLB’s Kansas City Royals away from Missouri.
The measure features that the state will help with the new venues and practice facilities for both organizations on the Kansas side of the metropolitan area of over 2 million residents. Three Super Bowl triumphs in 5 seasons – and footballer Travis Kelce’s romance with superstar Taylor Swift — have made the Chiefs the most popular franchise in the arena and defacto in the USA at the moment.
Both franchises revealed that they will consider relocation to Kansas. The lease on their current stadiums is until the beginning of 2031, but both have announced that they want to plan for what will happen after that.
In its history, the state of Missouri has lost (just to name a few):
– The Kansas City Athletics (MLB)
– The Kansas City Kings (NBA)
– The Kansas City Scouts (NHL)
– The St. Louis Rams (NFL)And after today, they may very well lose the #Chiefs and #Royals. pic.twitter.com/NOXcRQV3ca
