NY Knicks player OG Anunoby has opted out of his deal and into free agency.
The guard inked a 4-year, 72 million dollar contract with the Raptors in 2020 with a player option for the upcoming campaign. When Anunoby was acquired by the Knicks from the Raptors in the past campaign, the NBA franchise from the Big Apple inherited the terms of the deal but risked losing the player as an unrestricted free agent.
An anonymous NBA executive says he would offer OG Anunoby an average of $46.4 million annually, totaling $232 million over five years, per @FredKatz
“If I were negotiating from the Knicks’ perspective, I’d start him at $40 million and go five years, so $232 million.” 👀💰

The option was worth almost 20 million dollars next campaign, and his next deal could easily top 35 million dollars per year.
Heath is the biggest problem for OG. The guard missed 76 total matches in the last 3 campaigns because of injuries and was not on the court during Raptors’ NBA title run in 2019.
The guard turns 27 in July. Anunoby averaged almost 15 points, over 4 boards, and 2.1 assists last campaign in a total of 50 regular-campaign matches with Toronto (27 games) and New York.
