Lambiase reveals Verstappen is like ‘a brother’ to him

Gianpiero has opened up on the special bond he shares with current world champion Max Verstappen, calling him ‘a brother’.

The two have worked together since the Dutchman was promoted to Red Bull back in 2016 and have become a fierce duo, which has bagged the last three Championships.

It hasn’t always been smooth sailing as Verstappen’s frustration before his maiden title in 2021 has caused major problems within the team.

“We know each other inside out and we know what triggers the other one, or how to perhaps coax or put the arm around the other one’s shoulder,” said Lambiase. “I think we know how to manage ourselves out of a difficult situation and also enjoy the better situations.”

“But I think 2021 was so intense, I think… the relationship and the bond was cemented that year, and then last year and this year’s just been a continuation of that. And yeah, I see him as my little brother.”
