A court denied a lawsuit by Real Madrid and Athletic Club, which told that LaLiga’s CVC investment deal was illegal.
The “Boost LaLiga” project – inked in December 2021, saw the league and the teams receive over 2 billion dollars from the private equity firm CVC in exchange for an 8.2% share of La Liga’s income from broadcasting and sponsorship rights for the next 50 seasons.
🚨 Real Madrid and Athletic have been told to pay the costs of the process.
They lost the trial vs La Liga, where CVC will receive for 9% of the TV rights, for the next 50 years.

An initial 37 of the country’s 42 1st and 2nd division teams voted in favor of the agreement. Real, Barca, and Athletic didn’t agree and were subsequently excluded from its terms.
They shared that they will sue the league – with backing from the Spanish football federation – claiming that the contract was illegal and violated teams’ rights, despite the Catalan giants and RFEF withdrawing from the lawsuit.
“LaLiga has today become aware of the ruling from the Court of First Instance No.15 dismissing the lawsuit filed by Athletic Club and Real Madrid CF vs. us,” La Liga shared on social media.
