He will replace Earnie Stewart, who departs from the U.S. Soccer Federation in February to become the director of football at PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
After securing Crocker for the open director position, the USA Soccer Federation can now focus on finding a permanent head coach for the men’s team.
Matt has been director of football operations in the Saints since early 2020, but the Premier League’s club reported that Crocker would leave after the end of the season. Southampton is currently in the last place in the league, and the chances of being relegated to the Championship are very high.
