Kylian Mbappé’s nose injury remains a concern for the French national team ahead of their Euro 2024 semifinal against Spain. The French captain was not at his best against Portugal and requested to be substituted during extra time. France secured a 5-3 victory in the penalty shootout after a goalless draw in regular time and extra time at the Volksparkstadion.
“Such are the peculiarities of being a footballer. You always have to participate in team activities and at any moment, you are obliged to stand by your teammates. I have always said that no matter what happens, the most important thing is to win. I only scored one goal, but we are in the semifinals and I am very happy about that,” Mbappé told reporters after the win.

“We had already discussed everything with the coach at the end of regular time. We decided I would try to play a little longer, but at halftime during extra time, I told him I no longer felt right, that I was too tired. He said ‘okay,'” added Mbappé, who took another hit to the face in the game, but was okay to continue.
