Lionel Messi has shed light on his troublesome relationship with the PSG supporters towards the end of his spell in Paris.
Messi scored 32 goals across 2 seasons for the Parisians, helping them lift Ligue 1 twice in a row. However, many consider his spell there as failure after the 36-year-old failed to deliver the big trophy in Paris as the team crashed out in the last 16 on both occasions.
With that and the World Cup success, which saw France fell short, saw the fans turn against Messi. Now the 36-year-old reflected on his time in Paris.
‘I came to Paris because I liked the club, because I had friends and a lot of people I knew in the dressing room, teammates from the national team or some I had been with before.’ he said.
‘The truth is that it was a very difficult adaptation, much more than I expected.
‘Apart from the fact that I had people I knew in the dressing room and I had relations with them, it was complicated to adapt to a new change. I arrived late, I didn’t have a pre-season. I had to adapt to a new city, which was difficult for my family and for me.’
