Philadelphia 76ers center Montrezl Harrell has torn the cruciate ligaments and meniscus in his right knee, the NBA club announced.
The 29-year-old Harrell suffered the severe injury during training. He signed a new one-year, $2.9 million contract with Philadelphia just a few weeks ago, but it looks like he will miss most, if not all, of the upcoming season. During the 2022/23 season, Harrell was the backup to NBA MVP Joel Embiid and averaged 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game in 57 games.
Harrell’s injury is unlikely to be a serious problem for Philadelphia as they got three other players in the center position – the Ivorian Mo Bamba, the Serbian Filip Petrushev, as well as the Lithuanian Azhuolas Tubelis.
